Why Unbroken Whole Leaves Matter

Learn the chemical and sensory difference between single-estate unbroken leaves and commercial dust bags.

Shubhday Standard
🍃

Unbroken Whole Leaf

Handpicked top two leaves and bud from high-altitude estates. Cellular structures remain 100% intact, releasing sweet catechins slowly without harsh bitter tannins.

✓ Re-steep up to 3 times
✓ 4x more intact bio-active EGCG
✓ Smooth natural sweetness
⚙️

Machine CTC / Broken

Leaves crushed and torn in industrial machines. Crushed cell walls rapidly release astringent tannins within seconds, resulting in a dark and bitter brew.

✗ Single steep only
✗ High bitterness profile
✗ Loss of delicate floral notes
⚠️

Paper Bag Dust & Fannings

Leftover residue from tea processing floors. Rapidly oxidizes in porous paper bags, losing active polyphenols while shedding microplastic particles in hot water.

✗ Oxidized and stale
✗ Bleached paper & microplastics
✗ Requires milk/sugar to drink
Steeping Masterclass

How to Brew for Peak Flavor & Science

Follow this 4-step ritual to unlock maximum natural sweetness and active L-Theanine.

01

Water Temp (80°C)

Never pour boiling 100°C water on green tea. Let freshly boiled water rest for 2 minutes until it reaches 75°C–80°C to prevent scalding delicate leaves.

Recommended: 75°C - 80°C
02

Leaf Ratio (2g)

Use approximately 1 heaping teaspoon (2 grams) of unbroken whole leaves for every 200ml cup of filtered water.

Ratio: 1 Tsp per 200ml
03

Steep Time (2.5 Mins)

Cover your teapot or cup and let the whole leaves unfurl gently for 2 to 2.5 minutes. Strain cleanly into your favorite ceramic cup.

Duration: 120 - 150 Seconds
04

Re-Steep (Up to 3x)

Do not discard the leaves after one cup! High-altitude leaves yield softer, nuanced floral flavors on your second and third infusions.

Infusions: 3 Servings / Spoon
